Grandpa Walk
An exercise to help nervous or spooky horses regulate their nervous system.
With horses, motion influences emotion. When a horse is anxious or reactive, simply lunging them often doesn't solve the problem. The energy may leave temporarily, but the same behavior usually returns the next session.
To truly calm the mind, we must first slow down and regulate the body. The Grandpa Walk helps your horse move slowly, focus on a productive thought, and begin relaxing both mentally and physically.

Exercises like the Grandpa Walk are part of a much larger foundation.
In Harmony in Hand, we teach the classical foundations of work in hand step by step so you can develop a horse that is calm, balanced, and mentally present.
If your goal is a horse that feels safe, light, and capable of high level work, this program shows you how to build that foundation the right way.
