I’ve loved horses for as long as I can remember. But as a young rider, every instructor told me the same thing: dominate the horse, make them obey, show them who’s boss.
Deep down, it never felt right — and even when I did what I was told, I still couldn’t reach higher levels in my riding. No matter how much pressure or force I used, there was always a plateau…and my horses never seemed happy doing the work.

I convinced myself the solution was a better horse. So I bought a beautifully bred Trakehner, sure that talent would take us farther. But we hit the same wall. I realized something painful: it wasn’t the horses. I didn’t actually know how to help them. Everything I was doing was guesswork — a mix of aids that didn’t add up to real communication.
Everything changed when I discovered classical riding.

Megan Sorrentino has devoted her life to helping riders build deep, harmonious partnerships with their horses.
Raised in the traditional “make-the-horse-do-it” system, she always felt something was missing. Everything changed in 2012 when she discovered classical equitation — the connection she’d always believed was possible.
Since then, Megan has immersed herself in classical study, completing the National School of Academic Equitation’s year-long professional course, earning certification through the Foundation of the Equestrian Arts, and receiving her Bachelor of Science in Equine Science and Business from Colorado State University.
Known for her warmth, humor, and down-to-earth teaching style, Megan blends biomechanics, classical principles, and empathy to help riders feel confident and horses feel understood. Her mission is simple: to create sound, curious, and willing horses — and riders who know exactly how to support them.
